So I’ll make this quick. My guy Goose just finished off 8 days at the fox. The last time he stayed he had a rough time not eating, separation anxiety lost some weight etc. Fast forward this time. I had a chat w Sam at the front desk, I told her what happened and we chatted about how Goose could use a change. She came up with some ideas about what could be done to make sure he had a better visit seeing as he’s 9. Sam has known goose for a very long time and is aware of what he’s like. He’s been visiting the Fox since it opened. When I picked him up, I came to find out that Marley in the back figured out how to get Goose to eat, she hung out with him, talked to him and gave him some luvving. All he wanted was a friend to keep him company. Sam, Marley, thank you so much for making this a great stay for Goose, the extra love and attention made everything much easier for him, and alleviated any worries on my end. I owe you guys.

I love the staff. My dog started out shy and has since come out of his shell; absolutely has grown more confident and enjoys every minute there. He naturally has LOTS of energy and comes home tuckered out. I really love the picture updates throughout the day on their facebook page of all the fun they are having. I'd definitely refer anyone here!

My two dogs have been going here on a regular basis for the last 6 years. They love it here but sadly, they will not be returning. They were at doggy daycare back in February and I picked them up after work and was told that one of my dogs sounded a little “phlegmy”. Okay, no big deal, it happens. Both dogs jump in my vehicle and all I hear is my dog pretty much gasping for air and I turn and look at the girl and ask that sounds phlegmy to you?? She replies yes and closes the door. I called my vet immediately and drove right there to see what was wrong. The vet said she had swollen lymph nodes, high fever and is having trouble breathing. My dog ended up being on oxygen for about two hours and they put her in a cold bath to try and get her temperature down. The vet said that if her temperature keeps going up I will have to take her to the ICU in London. I called the Fox and Hound to ask exactly what happened and I got a very vague “she sounded phlegmy in the afternoon at some point”. $900 later and after being on oxygen for a whole two hours I finally got to take her home. I ended up calling Katie a few days later and did not get the response I should of gotten. Yes, she did ask me if my dog was okay but she took no responsibility for what had happened. There was noteven an apology regarding the fact that they misinterpreted the sound of her having trouble breathing as sounding phlegmy. She turned it back around on Sarnia Animal Hospital and said the vet there probably didn’t do enough work on my dog and said my dog probably has an underlying condition- She does not. The vet was very thorough. Something triggered her at the fox and hound, which happens, that’s life - but for my dog to not be breathing properly for a whole afternoon and to not even receives a phone call to see if I wanted to take her to the vet is unacceptable. If she was there for an overnight stay I honestly don’t know if she would be cuddling me on the couch right now as I write this. I will never recommend this place to anyone ever again. There are far too many dogs and far too few employees there to be able to make sure all dogs are safe and properly taken care of.

Love this place! Our dog, Georgie, goes for play days and long stays when we go away. The staff is always friendly and amazing. Very accommodating! Other places we had tried before we found F&H, our previous dog seemed nervous when we arrived. Once we came to F&H, the nervousness subsided and we never looked back! We know that Georgie is in good hands! Thanks Fox & Hound!

I am not one to usually place things on the internet, but when it comes to the health and safety of my babies, our babies I have to share. Last week, Wednesday and Thursday my fiance dropped our two dogs off for the day for daycare. Thursday was black lab day. Not a problem as they have gone here before and loved it. So I thought I could bring them back recently as I am back to work and needed to rely on somewhere I could trust for my dogs to go. When i picked them up on both days, my dogs were just handed to me with no explanation of what they did for the day or anything. They wanted my money first and handed me my dogs and away they went. When I got my dogs home, I noticed their behaviors were tired, yes of course they run around and have a blast. But they were distant, ears back and skiddish all of a sudden. So I checked them over with my fiancé and we found a few puncture wounds over both our dogs. With no idea about these spots on them at all, as no one told us as they handed my dogs back at pick up. My golden retriever has two scabs on her head &some more minor scratches and marks on her. My white lab, you could see the blood on him more of course the more you moved back the hair. We then lifted his right ear to find an even bigger puncture wound. We couldn't believe it. Our dogs have been home with me, scratch and puncture wound free for almost a year as I was not working. So we knew these were new. I understand that kids get scratches and cuts when they go to daycare. But not full on puncture wounds causing bleeding. Until the vet on Monday, we instantly had to separate my two dogs for the weekend and put a cone on my Labs head so he didn't irritate his spots anymore then it already was. The Goldens wounds healed up and dried up themselves as they were small enough, however my white labs did not. My poor boy. So we took him to the vet on monday, and the vet confirmed that he had 3 puncture wounds on his head, and the sylva from another dog started to cause the irritation, causing a hot spot and infection. So 3 puncture wounds leading to a hot spot, that can spread if not treated, all over my baby boys body. All because I sent him to the fox and hound. Not to mention this was all followed by a $300 vet bill that we were not prepared to pay for. After already paying $90 of daycare to send them there to get hurt. Of course I reached out to the daycare immediately, the manager there was AMAZING and apologized and took all of my information down. She reassured me that the owner (who I have never met before- Katie) was awesome and that she would give me a call... THIS is where I get really upset. Katie, as a business owner, called the vet before calling me to ask what happened. The vet of course explained to her that for privacy reasons she needs to speak with me first. And would not disclose any information. She then proceeded to leave me a very direct voice-mail explaining that it was only hot spots and irritation. Very rude and putting the blame on us. I finally talked to Katie who at first was extremely defensive, I understand you want to protect your business, however. She didn't want to pay the bill at first, she wanted me to feel as if my dog got this spot from the pool or from the turf in their arena. I got very upset. As a protective dog mom. I stood my ground. Katie has now paid for the vet visit yes, but has not refunded me my daycare money, really APOLOGIZED for what happened to my dogs, told us they are not welcome back and has not checked in once to see if he is okay. And it's now Friday, it's been a week my poor boy has been in a cone. He has 3 weeks of two types of antibiotics, a wipe down every night on the spot and of course he isn't able to enjoy life right now!!! And that breaks my heart. I just want our babies in the best hands. Every experience is different i get it, but I had a bad one and I will never step foot in that place again.
